AccessibleEU at Four Years: Advancing Accessibility to Strengthen Europe's Competitiveness
AccessibleEU at Four Years: Advancing Accessibility to Strengthen Europe's Competitiveness
Accessible Madrid will be present at AccessibleEU’s major European event on the future of accessibility
On 24 and 25 November 2026, Madrid will become one of Europe’s main meeting points for professionals, institutions, companies and organisations working towards a more accessible society.
Accessible Madrid will take part in “AccessibleEU at Four Years: Advancing Accessibility to Strengthen Europe’s Competitiveness”, the major event organised by AccessibleEU, the European Commission’s European Accessibility Resource Centre, to celebrate its first four years of activity and discuss the future of accessibility in Europe.
Accessible Madrid will participate as a leading European company in the field of accessibility, bringing a particularly cross-cutting vision that connects accessible tourism, digital accessibility, personal mobility and new Mobility-as-a-Service models.
The event will take place at Espacio Ventas, in Madrid, and will bring together over two days representatives from European institutions, public administrations, companies, universities, researchers, accessibility experts and organisations of persons with disabilities.
For Accessible Madrid, taking part in this event represents an opportunity to share experience, knowledge and a way of understanding accessibility that goes far beyond a single product, service or regulatory requirement.

Four years advancing accessibility in Europe
Since its creation, AccessibleEU has established itself as one of Europe’s leading initiatives supporting the implementation of accessibility policies, standards and best practices.
During its first four years, it has developed a pan-European network of experts, tools and methodologies, strengthened cooperation between Member States in the context of the European Accessibility Act, and promoted best practices in key areas such as transport, the built environment, digital accessibility, services and standardisation.
The Madrid event will provide an opportunity to review this progress and, above all, to consider what the next step should be. Accessibility can no longer be understood solely as compliance with regulations. It is also about innovation, technology, user experience, autonomy, inclusion and competitiveness.
Accessible Madrid: a 360º vision of accessibility
One of the key elements that sets Accessible Madrid apart is precisely its ability to approach accessibility from different perspectives that, in real life, are completely interconnected.
Our activity is structured around four main areas:
Accessible tourism
We design and coordinate tailor-made accessible trips, integrating the different services a person may need during their stay: accessible accommodation, private tours, transfers in adapted vehicles, personal assistance and experiences designed around the real needs of each traveller.
Our goal is for accessibility to be part of the entire travel experience, from arrival through to the journey home.

Digital accessibility
Accessibility also begins before any physical journey takes place.
Websites, applications, documents, booking platforms and digital services must be usable by everyone.
Accessible Madrid also provides digital accessibility consulting and training, helping organisations and companies create more accessible and inclusive digital environments.

MaaS – Mobility-as-a-Service and mobility device rental
Personal mobility is rapidly evolving towards new models based on access to mobility as a service, rather than solely on product ownership.
Accessible Madrid is developing Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) solutions applied to personal mobility devices, enabling users, companies, hotels, tourist destinations and organisations to access mobility solutions whenever and wherever they need them.

The rental of electric wheelchairs, mobility scooters and other mobility devices also allows users to try innovative technologies, access a mobility solution while travelling, or temporarily meet a mobility need without having to purchase the product.
This model creates new opportunities not only for individual users, but also for hotels, airports, tourist destinations and other B2B environments.
Online sales of next-generation personal mobility products
Accessible Madrid also offers high-value, next-generation personal mobility products, many of them designed to improve the independence, portability and travel experience of people with reduced mobility.

Foldable electric wheelchairs, ultra-compact mobility scooters, smart devices and new technological solutions are all part of a rapidly transforming market.
Through our physical store and online channel, we offer these solutions to customers in Spain and internationally, combining technology, specialist advice and after-sales service.
Accessibility, technology and mobility
One of the key focuses of the event will be to explore how innovation is transforming mobility and the built environment.
The programme will address issues such as accessibility in air and rail transport, passenger autonomy and safety, universal design, accessible public spaces, and the role of technology in creating more inclusive solutions.
Representatives and experts from organisations and companies including British Airways, Toyota, the European Commission, UITP, Google, Microsoft, Samsung, AWS, the European Disability Forum, Fundación ONCE and AccessibleEU, among many others, will take part in the event.
The discussion around digital accessibility, artificial intelligence and technology will also be particularly relevant, examining how digital transformation can enhance people’s autonomy and help ensure more equal participation in society.

Innovation you can experience
One of the most interesting aspects of the event will be its Innovation Showcase, an exhibition space dedicated to startups, technology providers and companies developing accessibility solutions and assistive technologies.
Participants will be able to discover emerging solutions, exchange knowledge with companies and innovators, and explore technologies that are already transforming accessibility across different sectors.
Accessible Madrid will be present in this environment, bringing its experience at the intersection of personal mobility, technology, accessible tourism, services and digital accessibility.
We believe that this combination of technology and service represents an important part of the future of accessibility.
From accessibility to experience design
There is one idea that particularly well summarises the way we understand this sector:
Accessibility is not a single product or a single technical standard. It is a connected user experience.
A person may use a state-of-the-art electric wheelchair, but they also need to be able to book an accessible hotel, travel in adapted transport, enter a museum, access a website, use an app, attend an event or enjoy a tourist destination with confidence. Each of these elements forms part of the same experience. When one of them fails, the experience is no longer truly accessible.
That is why at Accessible Madrid we believe the future lies in connecting mobility, technology, tourism, services and digital accessibility.
Madrid, a European meeting point for accessibility
“AccessibleEU at Four Years” will take place on 24 and 25 November 2026 at Espacio Ventas, Madrid, in a hybrid format, with online streaming available on both days.
At Accessible Madrid, we are particularly proud to take part in this European event and to share the space with some of the leading institutions, companies, experts and organisations driving the transformation of accessibility across Europe.

Our presence also reflects Accessible Madrid’s evolution towards a comprehensive accessibility model that connects four increasingly strategic areas:
Accessible tourism. Digital accessibility. Mobility-as-a-Service. Next-generation personal mobility.
We continue to work with one clear conviction:
greater accessibility means greater autonomy, greater participation, more innovation and more opportunities for everyone.
And we firmly believe that the future lies in connecting technology, mobility and services to create truly accessible experiences.
