Easter has passed and these rainy days invite to seek for shelter when doing any activity or visit. We would like to suggest you to visit, if you have not done so, the wonderful impressionist Paul Cézanne exhibition at the Thyssen -Bornemisza Museum. We remind you that this exhibition will end by mid-May and there will be very few occassions left to see it.

Curated by Guillermo Solana, the exhibition includes 58 paintings by the artist, 49 paintings and nine watercolors, from museums and private collections around the world, including nine works by other artists such as Pissarro, Gauguin, Bernard, Derain, Braque, Dufy and Lhote. The title of the exhibition, Site / Non- site, has been taken from the Irish artist and theorist Robert Smithson, and refers to the dialectic between outside and inside, between outdoor painting and studio work .

This first retrospective of the artist organized in Spain explores the relationship between two genres that haunted the painter with the same passion: landscapes and still lifes. Like the Impressionists, Cézanne painted landscapes outdoors, yet his works lack of seasons and times of day, and nature motifs are placed in a kind of staging.

Conversely, the French painter incorporated their own lifes changes and stresses of nature, and objects that convey stability traditionally support each other in a precarious balance, it is ultimately a laboratory of the composition.
