Designing 007: Fifty Years of Bond style

Rare costumes, atmospheric sets, gadgets, props, storyboards and original photographs are on show in the exhibition Designing 007: Fifty Years of Bond Style. This exhibition, organised by the Barbican Centre, EON Productions and Fernán Gómez Centro Cultural de la Villa, was on in London, Toronto, Shanghai, Melbourne, Moscow and Rotterdam before landing in Madrid. The Designing 007: Fifty Years of Bond Style exhibition will be moving to the Fernán Gómez Centro Cultural de la Villa, Madrid from the 8th May until 30th August.

Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the James Bond franchise, the exhibition presents the craft behind the icon, focusing on the distinctly British luxuriance of the world's most famous movie brand. The screen hero has not only headlined the most successful franchise in film history, he has made an indelible impact on the worlds of art, music, fashion, technology, travel, automotive design, and lifestyle. Together with numerous film clips, Designing 007: Fifty Years of Bond Style presents an unequalled multimedia experience of the world of James Bond.

Discover the design and style of the James Bond franchise over the course of five decades, through a dozen themed rooms and environments from 1962?s Dr. No to 2012?s Skyfall. Featuring over 500 unforgettable objects: Roger Moore?s white tuxedo from Octopussy (1983) and his Spacesuit from Moonraker (1979); the orange bikini worn by Halle Berry in Die Another Day (2002); Scaramanga?s Golden Gun from The Man with the Golden Gun (1974); Jaws? fearsome teeth which first appeared in The Spy Who Loved Me (1977); gadgets from ?Q branch? including the attaché case featured in From Russia with Love (1963); and the 1964 silver Aston Martin DB5 from GoldenEye (1995) which famously returned to the screen in 2012?s Skyfall.

The exhibition will be accompanied by a lavishly illustrated catalogue, with essays by exhibition curators and Ian Fleming biographer.

The exhibition has been formed with exclusive material from the archives of EON Productions on commission from the Barbican, London by guest curator Bronwyn Cosgrave, Oscar®-winning costume-designer Lindy Hemming, and designer Ab Rogers.
