Le Corbusier at Caixa Forum Madrid

Le Corbusier at Caixa Forum Madrid

Many will know him only because of the chaise lounge, cubic sofas and other of his furniture classics, but Le Corbusier was of course also an architect, interior designer, urban planner, photographer, writer and artist. Though his sofas may cost upwards of five figures, some of his urban planning solutions for low income housing were revolutionary.

This CaixaForum retrospective is a must for architecture and planning lovers? not only students of his "Five Points" of free-standing pilotis pillars, free facade, free floor plan, free unencumbered views and roof garden ? as it reveals just how broad and diverse the source of inspiration can be for these kinds of projects.

The exhibition focuses on the different places, buildings and landscapes Le Corbusier visited and imagined throughout his life and career, and how he translated observation into artistic renderings and inspiration for his work. Paintings, sketches, photos, audio, films, models and five reconstructed interiors draw you into this universe.

Le Corbusier: An Atlas of Modern Landscapes has been shown at MoMA in New York and it is organised together with Le Corbusier Foundation in París and produced by Obra Social "la Caixa"
