Mutua Madrid Tennis Open

The world's best tennis players come to the Caja Mágica (Magic Box) to play the Mutua Madrid Open. The tournament is part of the world's elite of tennis tournaments and is a Masters 1000 event in the men?s ATP circuit and a Premier Mandatory event in the women?s WTA circuit. It is placed only behind the Grand Slams in terms of importance. Furthermore, it is one of the few opens in the world in which the women's and men's categories are played at the same time.

Since 2009, the venue for the Mutua Madrid Open has been the Caja Mágica, designed by Dominique Perrault. An impressive and modern tennis complex whose main feature is the three courts on which matches can be played in the open air or covered thanks to the retractable roofs.

The list of winners is proof of the magnitude of the tournament: Andre Agassi (2002), Juan Carlos Ferrero (2003), Marat Safin (2004), Rafael Nadal (2005, 2010 and 2013), Roger Federer (2006, 2009 and 2012), David Nalbandian (2007), Andy Murray (2008) and Novak Djokovic (2011) in the male category. Dinara Safina (2009), Aravane Rezaï (2010), Petra Kvitová (2011) and Serena Williams (2012 and 2013) in the female category.

Rafa Nadal was proclaimed champion in the last edition of the Mutua Madrid Open 2014, following the withdrawal of Kei Nishikori. The Russian, Maria Sharapova, the couple made up of the Serbian, Nenad Zimonjic, and the Canadian, Daniel Nestor, and the couple made up of Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci were the list of winners in the last edition of the Madrid tournament.

Accessibility Caja Magica

The main access to La Caja Mágica is by sliding door that remains open during the event, following by a sloping street with a slope of 9%. Barrier free entrance to the three stages of complex.

The access to garden tennis courts (16 tennis courts with the possibility of clustering in eight to four, with space for galleries and connected to the building through the magic box gateways) is via a ramp with 6% slope. The building has ten elevators that connect all the floors with the gates (89 cm) and internal dimensions of 125 cm X 170 cm.

There are area reserved for wheelchair users in every stage (accessed by lift).
