People with disabilities who choose to buy or hire a mobility scooter for the first time often have doubts or questions related about the use of it. We try to clarify some basic points about the use of electric mobility scooter that we hope you find of help and interest.


Will a Mobilty Scooter roll down a slope?
No. Our Mobility Scooters have an automatic electronic brake that will prevent the unit from rolling forwards or backwards on a slope without user intervention. In other words the scooter will only move when the user moves the hand control lever. The brake is active even when the scooter is switched off and/or the battery is removed.
Note: our scooters have an explicit "Neutral" or "Freewheel" switch or lever, to enable the scooter to be pushed.


How do I recharge a Mobility Scooter battery?
You can recharge the battery by plugging the included charger into the side of the scooter (for Leo Invacare) and directly at home with the batteries with Colibri Invacare.


How long does it take to recharge a Mobility Scooter battery?
It is not recommended to let the battery run down before recharging. In the event that the battery is completely discharged, it will take from 7 to 10 hours to fully recharge.

What is the maximum weight alowed to ride a scooter?
Our individual scooters (Leo and Colibri) allow a maximum weight per person of 136Kg.


Are museums and stores in Madrid accessible with mobility scooter?
Yes. Museums and many stores in Madrid are accessible with mobility scooter. Madrid is one of the most disabled accessible cities in the world. You can rent your mobility scooter with www.accessiblemadrid.com


Can I ride the scooter in the rain or snow?
Yes, with some conditions: Do not ride if rain is heavy and may possibly soak the control panel. Ride very slowly through puddles. Do not ride if snow is deeper than 1/2 the height of your wheels.


Can I carry passengers on my scooter?

Can I ride the scooter on the road?
The scooter is a "pedestrian mobility device", and is intended for use on sidewalks. You should only ride on the roadway when no sidewalk is available. Always ride with care.


What if I have problems with my scooter?
All our scooters are covered by a comprehensive warranty. You just need to call us in case you have any problem and we will take care of it.


Are the mobility scooters insured?
Yes. The scooters are insured in case of mechanical failure. In addition, the company has a civil liability insurance cover. Our insurance company is Seguronce http://www.seguronce.com/ of Grupo Fundosa (ONCE). They have large experience in this type of insurances.


I have never used a scooter before. I am worried that I won?t be able to drive one.
These concerns are not necessary. Before the tour starts, your guide will show you how to operate the
scooter. It is really easy, plus, it is not a racing car; you will go the same speed as a pedestrian.


Do I need a driving license?
No. Mobility scooters go on sidewalks, museums, shops and parks and never on the road. You will be treated as a pedestrian.
