Christmas Concert - Tribute to John Williams

Christmas Concert - Tribute to John Williams

Superman, E.T., Schindler's List, Star Wars, Harry Potter and Indiana Jones... they all share some common features. As well as having moved several generations of audiences and entered the Film Hall of Fame, their soundtracks were also composed by John Williams, the great composer of music for film.

Following a career spanning close to six decades, Williams has received 49 Oscar nominations and 5 statuettes, as well as 22 Grammies, 4 Golden Globes, and 3 Emmies. Having scored some of the most moving melodies of the 20th Century, he is one of the world's most important soundtrack composers, and a living legend in the world of film.

This Christmas, Lucas Vidal, the young Spanish composer who is making waves in Hollywood and who sees Williams as his main musical reference, will pay tribute to him at the Teatro Real Opera House, at a unique concert that proved a huge hit last year at the Teatro de la Zarzuela.

Vidal will be conducting the Barbieri Symphony Orchestra at this very special performance. "Film Music: a tribute to John Williams" is a musical and visual journey through the career of the grand master of original soundtracks, performing some of his most famous pieces, inspired by the concert Williams himself presents in the US every year.

At this concert, as well as the pieces mentioned previously, audiences will be treated to other legendary soundtracks such as Jaws, Fiddler on the Roof, Jurassic Park, Home Alone, JFK, Memoires of a Geisha and Hook.

This tribute concert will also feature the special collaboration of Leticia Moreno, the most international Spanish violinist on the scene today.

For Lucas, "conducting Williams' music in my own country is a dream come true. Ever since I can remember, his music has been the soundtrack to my life, just as it has been for so many other people of my age and from other generations".
